Why Trump Won

Why Trump Won

Everyone has a plan, till they get punched in the face – Mike Tyson

What the hell just happened? Hillary Clinton is still asking that question, and she began asking it at exactly 10:50 EST on election night right after Florida punched her in the face. Also at 10:50 EST, things began to get real quiet over at Clinton election headquarters as Mr. Somber entered the room. What the hell just happened? Donna Brazile, Huma Abudin, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and even stupid Anthony Weiner were all asking that question with hands raised while making the WTF face. However, nobody was asking that question more than the 61,047,207 people who voted for Hillary Clinton. Was it the last minute rush of closet Trump voters? Comey’s reopening of the Clinton email fiasco? Russian hackers? A rigged election? What the hell just happened?

hillary-supporters-2Voters sat at home, some with family and friends, others at election parties, and watched Trump take an early electoral lead where he stayed for the entire evening. It was like watching the Patriots play the Cleveland Browns. They watched the big colorful interactive map of the United States on FOXnews, and CNN as state after state turned red. At 10:50 EST, with 99% of the vote counted, the state of Florida was called for Trump – that is when the panic began to set in at the Clinton headquarters, and shortly after that the tears began to flow. At the same time, Trump supporters shared the same surprise. This was NOT supposed to happen. Contrary to nearly every poll, contrary to the high level of Clinton confidence, contrary to the fact the DNC had hand picked Hillary long ago to be the first woman president, Trump still handed Hillary a defeat of landslide proportions. Yes sir, there are a bunch of people with a bunch of headaches over at the DNC trying to figure this one out. In the end, Republicans would take control of the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives, something that hasn’t happened since 1928. How the hell did that happen?

Between all of the FOX, CNN, social media, and Monday morning armchair political pundits, there has to be a billion excuses and reasons why Hillary lost. And yes, I’m no different than any one of the aforementioned political expert wannabe’s, so here goes my take on something that has been brewing since 2008. You may have heard about it – it’s called the right wing swing, and I have the numbers to back it up.

This all started shortly after President Obama took office in 2008 when there was an explosion of new voters who registered as Independent. Between 2008 and 2014 the balance of Democrat, Republican, and Independent voters would change drastically. During that same period, the number of registered Democrats went from 36% to 29%. The Republicans, on the other hand only lost 2% of their voters. Also, during that same period we saw Independent voters jump from 36% to 42%. For every new voter registering as a Democrat or Republican, there were two new voters registering as an Independent. Translation – the Democrat and Republican base is dissolving (I’ll save the reasons why for another rant). The right-wing swing continued going into the 2014 mid-term election as the Democrats enjoyed a 77 seat majority in the House, and a 7 seat majority in the Senate. After the 2014 election, the balance of power in Congress would reverse as Republicans now controlled the Senate by 4 seats, the the House by 69 seats. Once the 2016 Presidential election dust settled, we would find that the right-wing swing was completed as oops-my-bad-clipart-1Republicans took control of the White House, Senate, and the House of Representatives. Translation – OOOOOPS! This was a natural progression with the finish line located at the White House. Donald Trump had nothing to do with it. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

Closet Trump supporters were the deciding factor!

There was no poll for the closet Trump supporter, and apparently there were enough of them to invalidate every poll that was tracking voter demographics. Mainstream media portrayed the closet Trump supporters the same way they portray UFO’s and Bigfoot. They’re not real. Donald Trump won this election because his supporters were so demonized by the mainstream media and the left, that they were forced to go underground – and there were tons of them. You can also thank political correctness for creating an environment where people cannot express how they feel for fear of being persecuted. They already made their decision. They sat at home quietly, and waited for election day. The media, and most polls painted this election as a dead-heat, but realistically, nobody expected Trump to win. Where did they come from? There was no poll to track Trump supporters who were afraid to admit that they supported Trump. I’ve voted in 10 presidential elections, and I can’t remember a single one where the repercussions for supporting a candidate included being called a deplorable, up to and including getting your ass beat by a mob of anti Trump savages. So the Trump voters went underground into the “no poll zone”, and resurfaced on Nov. 8.

Here’s the Bottom Line

What have we learned? 1) Democrats are pissed and depressed, 2) Democrats are loosing voters to Independents, or as I like to call them,  free thinkers, 3) all the negativity about Donald Trump whether real or made up by the media completely backfired and actually helped him (great job dummies), 4) the right wing swing is real  – Republicans now control the White House, The Senate, and The House of Representatives, and soon, The Supreme Court. The real bottom line is that the DNC could have easily beat Trump if they had gone with anybody other than Hillary.

Look at it on the bright side, Kanye West has announced his candidacy for 2020.
